So here we go again!   I glanced at the ETF Cashinator report and still look xolatile but it looks like the financial world will come to an end in January 2012.   Perhaps the Mayans weren’t wrong after all!   January looks terrifyingly scary.  I hope to be in 100% (or as close to it) by end of December.  Good luck to all!

The market is definitely acting like 2008 and there is a sh!t storm on the horizon.   I’m awaiting the calls on my OIH holdings to be executed October options expiry and I’ll be sitting in cash again.   Good luck to all.

What a wild ride last week!   The ETF Cashinator forewarned about what was to happen and I wrote about that last week.   I ran the report today again and it is UGLY!   There is a lot of insurance buying and speculation but it’s all to the downside across the board.   We may be in for another Dow 7k or 8k soon and I’m still largely in cash.  OIH has dropped significantly and I think it’s a bargain but I will proceed cautiously buying only 100 shares at a time and selling closest calls to immediate expiry.

Danger!  On the 10 year anniversary of 9/11, I ran the ETF-Cashinator report and was stunned to see heavy put buying across the board for the month of October.   It’s a bit heavier than usual according to the ETF-Cashinator algorithm and I’m worried.   Unfortunately, while I’m in largely cash, I do have a few positions in OIH and XHB but I’ll have to ride it out.   No more ETF buying until end of October for me!

The market volatility still seems to be out there albeit a bit more stable according to the latest run of the ETF-Cashinator.   Personally, I’ve taken a few dips into some of my favorite ETFs including OIH, XHB (yes I know playing with fire), and UNG.    If you do some research, UNG has remained relatively stable with decent premiums on 30, 60, 90 day out calls.  OIH has been quite volatile but always seems to bounce bank paying juicy premiums on the ups and downs.    Still hold large cash position but taking a dip in and out of the market….

We’re entering no man’s land in this market.  I can’t make heads or tails of the ETF Cashinator report.   On the surface, it looks normal but when I look at the high yields on calls the bets seem too bullish for 27 days out (September expiry).   The puts don’t look any better and the best guess I can make is a directionless market.   Think of being in a small boat in a turbulent sea!

What an exciting day as I did more trades today than I’ve done in a long while.   I closed out my FAZ position and closed my short DDM calls because they were so cheap!   What’s next?  The ETF-Cashinator shows heavy put buying on commodities and indexes but that’s to be expected with such a large drop.

On the flip side, people are betting on a recovery and going long commodities and indexes so it’s a bull & bear fight to the death!
