ETF Covered Calls 12-31-2009

It’s the end of the year and what better way to celebrate than to run the ETF-Cashinator and take a gander at the future.  I’m looking to invest in DXD again as this market has been nothing but a 45 degree climb up and it’s bound to break down at some point.   Here’s the google link.

ETF Covered Calls 12-23-2009

I ran the ETF-Cashinator and I can’t make heads or tails.  To be sure, February, March and April calls and puts look fairly volatile while January looks stable.   I’m not sure of what to make of it but if the economy is supposed to be stabilizing then the options aren’t showing it for the first quarter of next year.  I’ll be unavailable for the next week so Merry Christmas and safe trading!

Trade – Buy/Write OIH/OIHBD

Earlier today I purchased 400 shares of OIH at $119.50 and sold 4 February $120 strikes at $5.67.  If called I’ll make about $2,500 in total and if not, it’ll be about $2268 in profit and I’ll hold the shares until the next good opportunity.   I debated with myself on this trade since I like buying OIH under $110 but with the call premium so juicy I just had to take the plunge.   As always now, I’m maintaining a 50k reserve to buy on the dips if OIH plunges below $100.

ETF Covered Calls 12-18-2009

December expiry is finally here and it’s now time to look toward the future.   Oddly enough the ETF-Cashinator is showing signs of some stabilization so I’m wondering if this is something positive or if it’s the quiet before the storm.

ETF Covered Calls 12-11-2009

Only seven more days before final expiry for the year!  I ran the ETF-Cashinator and I can’t make heads or tails of what will happen.   My gut is telling me that a massive dollar rally is underway – the pressure has been building and if that happens then the oil & the Dow will likely tumble.   Unfortunately, the Fed is hell bent on making sure the dollar devalues to inflate away massive government debts so who knows what will happen!

Here’s the link to the google report.

Data Feed Problems

I seem to be having some data feed problems so there will  be no  post today.  Sorry but this is the first time in a few years since I’ve been doing this that I’ve had data feed problems.  I did obtain the data but I can’t validate the accuracy at this point.  Unfortunately, I am too busy over the next week to fix the problem(s) so it may be a while before I’m back online.

I am sitting primarily in cash now since I’ve liquidated the 400 shares of OIH near $120.  OIH closed at $114 so I’m happy with that deal.

Trade – Sell OIH

I sold off my 400 shares of OIH  today at about $120 so I’m back in cash mostly in my Power Account.   I can’t explain it but I got a bit spooked with some international news and I’ve just heard some worse news so I’m sitting in cash.   Watch out….
