I just cranked up the ETF-Cashinator and it is showing some very disturbing signs.  The call option volume and premiums are down from their stratospheric levels (still high) but the put premiums are through the roof.   To me, this indicates that investors continue to buy insurance or place bets that the market will continue to fall.  This, combined with the reduction in call premiums, doesn’t bode well for the markets overall.    It doesn’t help that Citibank, Bank of America are near/at insolvency and their stock is trading close to zero.  GDP for 4th quarter SHRANK 6.5% isn’t good either!   I continue to sit out the market with my usual positions.  Here’s the ETF-Cashinator report.

No surprises here, the ETF-Cashinator told us so, the market was going to be very volatile and things came to fruition as determined by a cold calculated heartless computer.   Perhaps the ETF-Cashinator should be running the economy!   It’s getting uglier, the ETF-Putinator shows a dramatic increase in put premiums which means people are expecting the market to tank further and investors are paying handsomely for insurance.   I’m sitting on the sideline

Pure chaos!  That’s what the ETF-Cashinator is showing for March although we’re still not done with February expiry.  The next seven days are showing fairly volatile but that’s fairly obvious.    Here’s the February report:

Don’t get too excited about this mini-rally.  The stimulus bill hasn’t pass yet and I don’t think it’ll make too much of a difference but the market may rally a bit further.   I took a sneak peak at ETF-Cashinator options for March and it’s pure chaos.   The ETF-Cashinator picks for February are still volatile and no reprieve over the next couple of weeks.
