ETF Covered Calls 01-30-2009

Three more weeks till February expiry and the ETF-Cashinator is still showing tons of volatility so no reprieve anytime soon. OIH option buy back might be profitable as energy/drilling industry continues to get hammered. Buy low sell high works with both equity and options!

Market is not looking healthy as the ETF-Cashinator kicked out 9 pages of volatile plays for February expiry. It’ll continue to be a rough ride through February expiry based on the market data. Here are the ETF-Cashinator picks:

ETF Covered Calls 01-16-2009

Not looking good, the ETF-Cashinator kicked out 11 pages of ETFs yielding > 3% which means we’re going to have a ton of volatility over the next few weeks till February expiry. It’s crazy out there but perhaps some great profit opportunities. If Bank of America goes under, all bets are off and we’re looking at the next depression. Nothing will be safe!

Trade – OIHGV

Hope!  I sold 4 OIHGV contracts for $4.63 to rake in about $1,840 today in my power account.   This represents a 4% return over a 6 month window since OIHGV is July 09 $110 strike.   Given the state of the economy and markets I figured an 8% return (annualized) is much better than nothing and certainly better than what any bank is paying in interest these days.    If OIHGV expires worthless in July then I’ll sell Jan 2010 $110 calls and if my calls get assigned then I’m back in cash and hopefully that means that the market is on its way to recovery and I’ll have a ton of cash to play with…

ETF Covered Calls 01-02-2009

2009 is here! The ETF-Cashinator just cranked out January 09 expiry ETF Covered Calls and it doesn’t show much stability in the market right now. The only consolation is that the volume of ETF CC’s has declined a few which may be an improvement.
