Sold GDX

Sold off my 200 Shares of GDX. GDX popped up 2.5% early this morning and I had to take advantage for two reasons:

1. I need to move my money to a new brokerage because I’m unhappy with the one I have now.

2. The Fed meets next week and who the heck knows that they’re going to do (raise/lower rates).

So I sold off at $38.23 which brings my total return 2.6% for 20 days work - not bad. I was extremely tempted though to write another 2 contracts for Feb which would have brought in another $250 but I’m too eager to move to a new broker.

The ETF-Cashinator™ has been busy crunching some numbers.  As a special treat, I’m sharing the Naked Put information the ETF-Cashinator™ spit out along with the best high yield covered calls.   Naked Puts is Ron Groenke’s second aspect to building a cash machine & money tree but I won’t be covering that too much on this website.  If you’re interested I suggest you purchase his book over at http://www.rongroenke.com.

And now….

BUY-WRITE ON GDX

GDX has had some nice pull back so I picked up 200 shares around $38.12 and sold 2 contracts for $1/each yielding $185 after commissions . Assuming I’ll get called I’ll make about 2.2% return (including all commissions). Not bad for two weeks I guess. I did an in-the-money trade because ideally, I’d like to be called and assigned. The Federal Reserve meets on January 31 and I’m concerned that they may begin to lower interest rates and that would be bad (short term) for gold. If the Fed raises rates (fight inflation) then gold may shoot up higher and I’ll look to trade February options.

The next Fed meeting won’t take place until March so February would be free sailing….
